Your Best Dive Destination – Milne Bay

The famous Milne Bay is a large bay in the Milne Bay Province located in Papua New Guinea. It spans more than 35 kilometers long and 15 kilometers wide. It is a good place to experience diving, and other water and PNG culture activities. The bay is considered to be some of the best all-around scuba diving in Papua New Guinea and one of the best dive destination in the world. Here are some of the best diving sites around Milne Bay.

Main Wharf/House Reef

The house reed is best done in two separate dives. A large variety of critters can be found, as well as stargazers, octopus, sea horses, epaulet sharks, mandarin fish, and harlequin shrimps among others. It’s one of the places that the more you spent underwater, the more you see water creatures.

Wahoo Point

Wahoo Point is a small point located on the North side of the mainland. This site is frequently visited by Manta Rays, Hammerheads, Whale Sharks, Mini Whales and on two occasions, Orcas. What a great place for wide angle photography.

Coral Garden

The site offers a wonderful collection of hard corals most of which are in shallow waters. Perfect both for divers and snorkelers.

Deacon’s Reef

The reef is located on the North Coast. It offers a spectacular wide-angle opportunity for photographers. This is a truly beautiful reef but an eye should always be kept out in the blue for visits from whale sharks, hammerheads, and mantas.

Lawadi Beach

Lawadi beach is located in front of a 400-500-meter-long pebble beach. You can find critters, octopus, cuttlefish, lionfish, pipefish, mimic octopus, frogfish, Coleman shrimps and a variety of Nudibranch.

These are some of the best dive sites that lie around Milne Bay. Check them out and enjoy diving!
